DAVE was saved from a high kill shelter in TEXAS
DAVE is neutered, rabies, core vaccines, de-wormed, heart-worm tested negative and micro-chipped. He has a date of birth of around 8 February 2016 and at the time of rescue weighed 17.8 pounds.
DAVE is a lively, happy, loving affectionate little boy. He walks good on a leash, he loves to go on road-trips and adventures, he will roll with, chase and wrestle with the other dogs, but snuggle up to you as often as he can.
DAVE would be great for a family that is familiar with small breed dogs, we really do not know what breeds he has in him, but sweet and affectionate are definitely his strong points. He does jump up a lot, but that is common with rescue dogs and with guidance and training is easy to teach them not to do.
We do not have cats at the rescue so we cannot comment how he is with cats, however, we do have a rabbit that he has paid no attention to. At the rescue the dogs are free-fed and DAVE does occasionally growl to keep the other dogs away when he is eating, but he has never been aggressive, however, if you have other pets this would be something to be aware of and supervise so you can get an understanding of how he is.
DAVE is available for adoption through Give a Dog a Home, German Shepherd Dog Rescue for an adoption fee of $450.
If you are interested in adopting this stunning boy and giving him the life he needs and deserves our application can be completed and submitted on our website under the APPLICATION tab.

DAVE is located at the rescue in Sebec, Maine. We post in various states along the east coast and Canada where we have had lots of successful adoptions to enable more exposure for these beautiful saved souls.
Families will need to be prepared to travel to the rescue to meet and take home their new best friend. There is a local hotel in Dover-Foxroft that is pet-friendly (approx 6 miles) and several in Bangor (approx 45 miles). We can occasionally arrange transport for dogs from the rescue to Middletown, CT for a fee, to cover volunteer fuel/expenses for $150. This will be dependent upon our volunteers availability so is not guaranteed.
