JADE was saved from a High Kill shelter in Texas where she had three days to be saved before she would have been killed.
JADE is spayed, rabies, core vaccines, de-wormed, heart-worm Negative and micro-chipped. She has an estimated date of birth of 1 February 2015 and at the time of rescue weighed around 45 pounds.
JADE was transferred up to the rescue in Maine and has been doing great. She is still very skinny and does need to gain a good amount of weight. She is a very affectionate girl and is in that goofy phase of her life where she is growing into her body and she is all legs. She is very playful and extremely puppy-like.
JADE needs to learn manners, she is very excitable and does jump up at any and every chance she can. She will definitely need a family that has the time, patience and understanding to give this beautiful girl the guidance and training that she needs. She has clearly had no affectionate or attention as a young puppy and is just so happy to be in a safe place where she gets good food and attention and play.
JADE loves to go for car rides but does pull a lot on the leash. She will need a family that is prepared to work with her on basic and advanced obedience training. It is better if the family does the training as they will be able to learn her body language, characteristics and personality easier and JADE will learn their personality, body language, guidelines and expectations a lot quicker too.
JADE had been diagnosed with demodex mange, which is non-contagious and is clearing up wonderfully. She has thinning hair with some bold patches, but her hair is growing back and with continued good diet and some extra immune support she will have a good healthy coat and skin soon enough.
JADE since she is so skinny does get a bit possessive with food. At the rescue I free-feed and the dogs and she will growl and try to keep all the food to herself, but she has not been aggressive and she is getting better now she is learning that there is food for her and no longer has to starve.
JADE would benefit from an active family who understands the GSD and working dog breed and the their needs. She will need basic and advanced obedience and this is always best done with her new family so all can learn each others personalities, body language, expectations and boundaries for all can be set
JADE is available for adoption through Give a Dog a Home, German Shepherd Dog Rescue for an adoption fee of $450.

JADE is located at the rescue in Sebec, Maine. We post in various states along the east coast and Canada where we have had lots of successful adoptions to enable more exposure for these beautiful saved souls. Families will need to be prepared to travel to the rescue to meet and take home their new best friend. There is a local hotel in Dover-Foxcroft that is pet-friendly (approx 6 miles) and several in Bangor (approx 45 miles). We can occasionally arrange transport for dogs from the rescue to Middletown, CT for a fee, to cover volunteer fuel/expenses for $150. This will be dependent upon our volunteers availability so is not guaranteed.
