AMORE was saved from San Antonio Animal Care Services on 14th February 2015. She was one of the GaDaH 4th year Anniversary pups we saved in memory of those that we had lost over the years in rescue.

AMORE had very swollen, sore red eyes and a bad cough. At the vets she was diagnosed as needing Entropion Surgery, because on both eyes, both eyelids were too long and basically doubled under and causing her eye-lashes to rub on her eye. This as you can imagine caused her great discomfort. She also had demodex mange around her eyes.

Due to her cough, surgery was not yet an option so she was on medication and mange treatment. on 1st April 2015 I took her to Deason Animal Hospital for her to finally have the much awaited and needed surgery. Dr. T. Gilmore performed the surgery and was very pleased with it. I kept AMORE boarded / hospitalized until the stitches were to come out, so that they could keep watch over her. Then on 11th April I picked her up and brought her back to the rescue.

AMORE surgery was a success, Dr. Gilmore saying that is the worst case that she had seen with so much excess skin especially her right eye. AMORE was so excited and happy. There is no aftercare, or concern with her eyes now!

Ever since AMORE has been at the rescue she has been a happy pup, even when in discomfort she would always be wagging her tail. Now, she is even happier. She is extremely affectionate and loving, she is repsonsive, but when she goes into that super-excited mode, she tends to be more interested in the other dogs. Thus, AMORE would definitely need basic and advanced training preferably with her family so that they can set boundaries and expectations and both AMORE and her humans can learn more about each others body language, personalities and gain that ever so important mutual respect for each other.

AMORE is GREAT with other dogs of all ages, she can be a bit rough with the smaller dogs, but not intentionally and she is quick to correct herself if they yelp. I think that is due to her being around and playing with the bigger dogs, but she is not aggressive at all.

AMORE is great with people and just LOVES EVERYONE. Her tail never stops wagging. She does jump up, but with training and correction that is an easy fix. She is a very smart girl and would be quick to pick up any kind of training or fun dog sport / games.

AMORE is available for adoption through Give a Dog a Home, German Shepherd Dog Rescue for an adoption fee of $170.
