|
ARETO was saved from San Antonio Animal Care Services.
She has been picked up during the night and since she was injured taken to the animal hospital for x-rays. She is limping, not using her rear leg and had a wound on her front leg. X-rays did not show any orthopedic damage, so ligament damage is suspected. Her wounds were treated and pain, anti-inflammatory and anti-biotics subscribed.
She was taken to our vets and she has a torn ACL, surgery has been scheduled for her to have TPLO surgery on Wednesday 7th January. She will take a few weeks to recover and then towards the end of January she will be available for adoption. Her new family will still need to follow the guidelines of her recovery and yearly x-rays will be required to make sure that everything is still good.
ARETO has a date of birth estimated as December 2013. She is spayed, rabies, up to date on her vaccines, de-wormed, heart-worm tested negative and micro-chipped. She currently weighs around 55 pounds.
ARETO will be hoping to find an active, loving family. Once she has recovered from her surgery which takes a few months she will be raring to go. She is wanting a family that has a little patience that understands what she has been through she may need some time to warm up and learn to trust. She will benefit form basic obedience with the family so that she can learn and understand her boundaries and what was expected from her. This also give the family time to understand her body language and what makes her tick. ARETO is extremely affectionate, she loves to sleep up on the bed with me.
Young German Shepherds need to be kept busy, they require lots of mental and physical stimulation, more that just playing ball in the yard.
ARETO is available for adoption through Give a Dog a Home, German Shepherd Dog Rescue for an adoption fee of $350. We are happy to take applications and pre-approve the perfect family for ARETO. We would encourage the family to talk to the surgeon so that information on her future care is not misinterpreted and fully understood.
Our application and process can be found under the application tab.
