PHEONIX was saved from Montgomery County Animal Shelter where she was very emaciated and had severe demodex mange, which is non contagious. She responded well, but does has generalized demodex mange and when she gets stressed it does tend to flare back up. The treatment is ivermectin (very cheap) or Bravecto, (flea/tick tablet or 3 months) which is what I currently use.

PHEONIX is spayed, rabies, core vaccines, heartworm and tick disease tested negative. She has an estimated date of birth of 10 February 2012 and has the potential to weigh around 80 pounds.

During a vet check up it was discovered that PHEONIX had hip dysplasia which resulted her in having Femoral Head Ostectomy (FHO) surgery. She recovered well although the stress of the surgery caused her mange to flare back up again. Back on treatment and she was fine.

PHEONIX is like the nanny at the rescue, all the puppies gravitate towards her and any feral type dogs also. She currently has a best friend CORETTA who is semi-feral and she gains confidence from PHEONIX.

PHEONIX is a very loving, affectionate girl, she is not an alpha and is happy to go along with whatever is going on. She can be wary of people initially but once she knows she can trust them she is a total love bug. PHOENIX when her mange is under control does enjoy playing with her group of friends in the rescue, she will chase and play with toys, but if she thinks I am watching she will stop. She really does deserve a great home.

PHEONIX is available for adoption through Give a Dog a Home, German Shepherd Dog Rescue for an adoption fee of $450.

If you feel that you have the heart and home to give this gorgeous girl a wonderful life, please go to our website, under the APPLICATION tab, complete, then submit the APPLICATION. Our process takes around 2 -7 days, and ensuring your references are aware that we will be calling, could speed up the process. Once you have been approved, we discuss any questions in regards to the dog you are wanting to adopt, then you complete and submit the contract, make payment and then we can work out the pick up / transport arrangements.

PHEONIX is located at the rescue in Sebec, Maine. We post in various states along the east coast and Canada where we have had lots of successful adoptions to enable more exposure for these beautiful saved souls. Families will need to be prepared to travel to the rescue to meet and take home their new best friend. There is a local hotel in Dover-Foxcroft that is pet-friendly (approx 6 miles) and several in Bangor (approx 45 miles). There are also lots of wonderful camp-sites for the more adventurous families and what a great way to get to know your new best friend.
