GaDaH - FIRST of MANY Saves in 2014
ADONIS saved from Garland Shelter in a really bad condition. He was extremely emaciated, has a skin infection, but boy is this boy full of life. He was seen by our vet at Devine Veterinary Clinic, where he was given a full examination and a blood panel run. Diagnosis was that he had a bad skin infection and was severely under-nourished. The treatment a course of anti-biotics and of course good nutrients and a good diet.
At the rescue I was feeding grain free, organic food and ADONIS was doing great, he gained weight, his coat was coming back, his skin cleared up. THEN, I ran out of that food and had to switch to INNOVA, but it had grains. Within a few days almost all of ADONIS hair fell out. Then a week later it started to grow back again. So this must have been just the change the diet, one of the problems we face being a rescue. However, he is doing great on the INNOVA food now and has made a remarkable come back.
ADONIS was tested for heart-worm disease and the 3 tick-born diseases at the beginning of October 2013, sadly he tested positive for heart-worm disease - this poor boy can't get a break. He also had a lump on his head. ADONIS had heart-worm treatment in the middle of October 2014 and made a great recovery with no issues, problems or set backs. He then went back to have the lump removed from his head and has had no issues there. A sample was sent for biopsy to be sure there was no other health concerns and it came back that it was benign, so ADONIS is over-all in great shape with no healthy issues.
ADONIS is such a happy boy, clearly enjoying life now forgetting about his horrendous past life of neglect and abuse. ADONIS all fixed and healthy is hoping that a family will have room in their hearts and homes to let him in and he can shower them with his love and devotion.
ADONIS does walk well on a leash although he can get excited and jump up - but that will stop with a bit of correction training and routine. ADONIS is a laid back boy who would be happy to sit by your side and share your secrets.
ADONIS of course still likes to run and play, but he is truly happy doing whatever his human is doing.
ADONIS is available for adoption through Give a Dog a Home, German Shepherd Dog Rescue for an adoption donation of $350.
