MYA was saved at the last minute before being euthanized at Fort Worth Animal Shelter. Her foot was in bits as to where it was unrecognizeable. I am thinking she got caught in a trap and as she pulled to get free, it basically ripped her foot off.
Did that turn your stomach...? It does mine every time I think of the pain these dogs endure, yet their spirits and amazing loving personality always springs right back.
MYA had her leg amputated and is loving a pain free life. She is great with other dogs, lives amongst LOTS of puppies, young and adult German Shepherds and GSD mixes. She can keep up with the best. She LOVES the kiddie pool, when she gets excited she whizzes round, she is such a wonderful spirit.
MYA hasn't had any formal training, she came to me, had surgery, healed and is now having fun with the pack waiting until her perfect forever family finds her.
If you think having a 3 legged dog will hinder what you can do.. you are very much wrong. There is a community group "Tripawds.com" where you can find as much information from families who have all kinds of dogs that have had amputees and can offer a great source of information should this be something that might be stopping you taking this wonderful girl into your hearts and homes.
With proper training MYA would make an EXCELLENT "therapy" dog, she gives so much inspiration to all that see her and she absolutely LOVES people.
GaDaH does allow out of State adoptions, however, the family MUST travel to meet the dog and spend some time with them to be sure personalities are a good match and then travel home together as a family.
MYA is spayed, Heartworm Negative, she is microchipped, had her core vaccines and rabies. She is on monthly preventative for heartworm and flea/tick.
