February 2013
DUKE has been on a temporary foster period and returned due to him being very "mouthy" and just not really knowing his own size / strength and the family had a small child.
DUKE also went on an over-night as a potential service dog, but was apparently food aggressive, which is something he had not shown any signs of before.
DUKE is a very large, strong boy. He is still young and is very stubborn, he is also very sweet, very gentle and plays great with the dogs, or chills out by my chair when he wants to relax.
Due to DUKE's mouthing, his size, his stubborness, and his potential food aggression, I will only consider very experienced GSD owners to adopt DUKE.
DUKE has amazing potential and had he not had that issue, I am sure he would have made an outstanding service dog, he wants to be by your side, he just needs to understand that he is NOT the boss and he can NOT manipulate to get what he wants.
If anyone is interested in adopting this magnificent boy, please check out our website for the adoption process and complete the application and email to giveadogahome@live.com - you will be asked to prove your extensive experience with this breed to ensure that DUKE is getting what he needs.

DUKE was an owner surrender to IRVING KILL SHELTER, for chronic allergeies. Whilst in the shelter the vet deemed him as "appears healthy", the shelter staff saw no concern. I have had him to the vets and he does not appear to have any allergies.
He has been neutered
Rabies
Heartworm tested - NEGATIVE
Hip xrays - GOOD no sign of hip dysplasia
Blood panel drawn - no abnormal levels
He did have an ear infection, which is being treated. He currently weights 76.3 pounds (13th November 2012) and has at least 20 pounds to gain, but could be comfortable gaining more!
DUKE is a handsome, sweet, gentle boy who deserves a family that can give him lots of exercise, mental and physical and a lifetime of love and affection.
Please email giveadogahome@live.com for more information, clearly stating why you are interested in DUKE and any GSD experience.
