DINA was saved from North Richland Hills Kill Shelter. Before she could be released there had been an inquiry as she had killed one of their cats. I think she was out in the office, and went sniffing around and came across a cat, who was startled, who startled her and well that was the end of the cat.
Due to this DINA will NOT be adopted to a family that has CATS!
Dina has been spayed, micro-chipped, rabies and has had her core vaccines. She is an absolutely stunning, pleasant girl, estimated to be around 2-3 years old. She gets on great with other dogs and pups, although prefers to be by my side, as close as she can get. She does sometimes get a little jealous if another dog gets closer to me, but has not shown any sign of aggression.
Due to the incident at the shelter with the cat, I had been keeping her and my young cats apart, however, one of the kittens had got in the house without my knowledge. DINA did chase after the cat, however, no harm was done.
DINA is very responsive to my voice, I have not done any kind of training with her, however, she knows her name, she knows when I am telling her to come her, sit and down.
DINA has gorgeous amber eyes (almost wolf-like) and she carries herself well. She is going to be perfect to someone who wants a companion dog, as she is very content being by your side and enjoying your company. She enjoys walks and if the rest of the pack are with us, she will always be the closest to my side.
DINA is one of the ultra smart GSDs and jumping a tall fence, escaping out of her crate is no big deal to her, and this happened when I first got her home. However, now she knows she is safe and has bonded with me and the pack, she is not interested in going anywhere other than with us.
DINA unfortunately is Heartworm Positive, but is scheduled for treatment on 5th/6th September 2012. She will have blood work run before treatment to be sure that he organs are able to withstand this potent arsenic based treatment. She will require quite for a few weeks afterwards, to be sure that the dead worms do not clog up her arteries, but after that she will be able to enjoy an active, happy life that she deserves.
DINA is a dog that will definitely turn heads, and will be with you no matter what. She would make an excellent, companion/service dog, as long as she will not be anywhere near cats.
