All of our available animals are located at the rescue in Sebec, Maine. Once approved families are invited to schedule an appointment to come to the rescue to meet and hopefully take home their new forever best friend.
VEGAS was surrendered with 4 other dogs from a local breeder. We are told he is around 2 years old. VEGAS is scheduled to be neutered and fully vetted the week of 8th November and will be available for adoption on 12th November 2021.
VEGAS has been here just coming up to a week and at first although he is mixed with a terrier, he definitely has the more calm, gentle Bichon personality. VEGAS
is great with other dogs and was eager to explore his new temporary home. H
e has been exposed to cats and whilst at first he was very barky, clearly never having seen one before, again he has settled down a lot. VEGAS is extremely affectionate boy wanting to be as close to me as he can or he is exploring, round the area, or snuggling with his buddies he came to the rescue with.
VEGAS is not housetrained and has been lifting his leg around the house, which is to be expected for an unneutered dog that has been in a breeding environment. Belly-bands are an excellent resource to prevent marking and house training. He most likely never had a leash and collar on and so families must be prepared to work with him on this and all levels of training. VEGAS does have a medium/long coat that will need to be brushed regularly and groomed to keep it maintained.
Although a small dog, he is still an active boy and we are only going to be accepting applications from families that has and will have the lifestyle that will be most beneficial to his needs, now and over the next 10+ years.

You MUST understand that dogs need time to decompress and adapt to their new environment and home. It is a HUGE transition they make from the kill shelter, being vetted, on transport for 3 days and arriving in Maine where the temperature and such is very different to what they have only known. In rescue there is what is known as the "3 Point Rule" Days 1-3 your dog is stressed, anxious, confused as to where they are now. Weeks 1-3 your dog is adjusting, settling in, learning things. At the 3 month point, your dog understands they are home, and have built up a trusting relationship where they feel loved and secure.
The rescue buys food in bulk, by the truck load and there are a variety of brands and flavours. None of the food given is less than a 4* food rating in accordance with

. There have not been issues with eating any of the varying foods. It is important that you do your research on the ingredients and speak to your vet or a nutritionist on grain vs grain free!
ALL dogs are available for adoption for an adoption fee of $550 or if adopting two dogs/pups $1,000 for both dogs.
This fee is not negotiable and is used to cover the rescue costs of pulling, vetting, health certificate, transport from Texas, or other locations, countries to Maine, monthly preventatives, supplements, food, general day to day cost of running a brick and mortar rescue and anything else that is needed.
Canadian families must confirm with the border that they are able to cross and have the required vaccines, documentation and anything else needed to enter the US. Also it is important to know that Canadian Customs charge 15% taxes on the adoption when you return into Canada.

ALL Dogs are LOCATED AT THE RESCUE IN SEBEC, MAINE. We post in various states along the east coast and Canada where we have had lots of successful adoptions to enable more exposure for these beautiful saved souls. Families will need to be prepared to travel to the rescue to meet and take home their new best friend. Sebec is located just outside the towns of Dover-Foxcroft and Milo (approx 8 miles) and approx 45 miles from Bangor. There are also lots of hotels, motels, pet friendly accommodations and wonderful camp-sites for the more adventurous families and what a great way to get to know your new best friend.
