All of our available animals are located at the rescue in Sebec, Maine. Once approved families are invited to schedule an appointment to come to the rescue to meet and hopefully take home their new forever best friend.

CALDER is neutered, rabies, core vaccines, de-wormed, monthly preventatives and microchipped. He has an estimated date of birth of 12 May 2021 .  We cannot say for sure what breed he is, so we expect families to do their own research on his look and size and decide what breed you think he is and if you have the lifestyle suitable for his needs.

CALDER and his brother Corbin are the last of 10 puppies born to an amazing mum Wanda, who has also found her forever family. Calder has been living with a lot of other dogs since he was weaned off his mum at 5-6 weeks of age and so is extremely socialized with other dogs. He is an extremely affectionate pup who just loves everyone that he meets. He is currently living in the house with 20 other dogs and is having a great time. He is always with his brother Corbin, although they do play with the other dogs also.

We would LOVE to adopt these boys together as they are very close and are willing to adopt both boys for $600. However, they can be adopting individually for the reduced adoption fee of $400.

Calder has not had any training, but is very responsive, he knows the rules and he knows I am in charge and is respectful of that. He, as all teenage dogs, likes to get up to mischief, but that is more because he isn't getting the structured exercise of walks, hikes and such and the mental stimulation of training and going to new places and all those new sights, smells and sounds which is important for all dogs mental well-being. He is a typical goof-bag and extremely affectionate, he loves to hang out on the bed and loves to stretch and take up as much space as possible. He is good with cats, although can be a little pushy at times, so as with all pets supervision is a must for safety and cats should be able to get out of the way if they feel they need their space, or feel threatened.

Calder is an active boy who is going to need an active family to burn off all his energy and to go on adventures and trips to give him mental stimulation and all round full-filling life. Calder has not had any training and so families must expect to work on basic obedience. He has never had a collar and leash on and so leash training will be needed. He is a very responsive pup and eager to please. He uses the dog door to go in and out and has not had an accident in his kennel, but he won't know to let his family know he needs to go outside.

Calder although a bit bigger now, is still a PUPPY, a BABY, he is going to be a lot of work, people tend to forget how much work puppies can be, so make sure you do your research or seriously consider if you have the time and patience for a crazy, high energy puppy. He is going to need House training, leash training, obedience training, learning all rules of the house, learning who his new family is. He is going to be chewing on anything he can get his mouth around. He will most likely cry or whine as he is used to being with all his siblings, his mum and all the dogs in the rescue. PUPPIES ARE A LOT OF WORK.

CALDER is a very happy puppy, his personality is developing and so will grow into how you treat him, train him, socialize him and expose him to many different environments, people and situations. He is mouthy and has sharp teeth.

Lots more pictures and possible video's can be found on his page on the rescue website.

You MUST understand that dogs need time to decompress and adapt to their new environment and home. It is a HUGE transition they make from the kill shelter, being vetted, on transport for 3 days and arriving in Maine where the temperature and such is very different to what they have only known. In rescue there is what is known as the "3 Point Rule" Days 1-3 your dog is stressed, anxious, confused as to where they are now. Weeks 1-3 your dog is adjusting, settling in, learning things. At the 3 month point, your dog understands they are home, and have built up a trusting relationship where they feel loved and secure.

The rescue buys food in bulk, by the truck load and there are a variety of brands and flavours. None of the food given is less than a 4* food rating in accordance with dogfoodadvisor.com. There have not been issues with eating any of the varying foods. It is important that you do your research on the ingredients and speak to your vet or a nutritionist on grain vs grain free!

ALL dogs are available for adoption for an adoption fee of $400 or if adopting him with his brother Corbin, a $100 discount will be given.

This fee is not negotiable and is used to cover the rescue costs of pulling, vetting, health certificate, transport from Texas, or other locations, countries to Maine, monthly preventatives, supplements, food, general day to day cost of running a brick and mortar rescue and anything else that is needed.

Canadian families must confirm with the border that they are able to cross and have the required vaccines, documentation and anything else needed to enter the US. Also it is important to know that Canadian Customs charge 15% taxes on the adoption when you return into Canada  .

If you feel that you have the heart and home to give this precious soul a wonderful life, please go to our website, under the ADOPTION INFO tab, complete, then submit the APPLICATION. Our process takes around 1-2 days, and ensuring your references are aware that we will be calling, could speed up the process. Once you have been approved, we discuss any questions in regards to the dog you are wanting to adopt,  then we can schedule your appointment to come to the rescue for meet/greet/adopt

Please do NOT submit an application if you are not looking to take home a new best friend within the next few weeks.
