SADIE was saved with her best friend/sibling SAWYER from a high kill shelter in Texas where dogs have just 3 dogs to be saved and transported to the rescue in Sebec, Maine  SADIE is spayed, core vaccines, rabies, heart-worm & tick disease tested negative, de-wormed, monthly preventatives and micro-chipped. At the time of rescue in July 2020, she weighed around 48 pounds and has an estimated birth date of 22 October 2019. There are lots more pictures and video's on her page on the rescue website.

Sadie was adopted with Sawyer on 19 August 2020, however, returned to the rescue on her own on 7 September 2020.

On 3rd Sept I received an email from the woman who adopted Sadie saying she needed to rehome her and if I had any contacts. I explained, as per the adoption contract all dogs are to be returned to the rescue. I asked what the problem was and she said "she is eating my house and won't get off the male" and then some unkind comments. On 6th September I received an email stating "Last chance, she goes today unless you can get someone to take her."

I don't need to go into any more detail for anyone to understand that the rescue had clearly got this adoption terribly wrong, when speaking on the phone she was saying she was a horrible, bad dog, referring to her as "it" and having a very strong dislike to this sweet girl which caused great concern.

When Sadie was adopted, she had been at the rescue for around a month and as any teenage dog, will challenge, get up to mischief, I had explained, she is the personality where if she was a teenage daughter who was grounded, she would be climbing down a drain pipe to go the midnigh party. I explained she had got into some of the rescue files and tore them up and even jumped up on the kitchen counter, so a very sweet loving girl, but one that needs strict training, boundaries, to know she is not in charge and not to be left unsupervised unless in a crate or secure area to avoid things as I had mentioned. Clearly, none of this was done as I she was able to chew on the table, and as she put it in an email "eating my house".

Within minutes of being back, Sadie was happy amongst her friends in the house, and has been giving me lots of kissing and cuddles.

Sadie is Great Pyrenees mix and the GP breed are renowned for being stubborn and smart. We expect families to be ensure they are knowledgable about the breed so that they are prepared and more importantly can be sure that they have the right personality, time and lifestyle to give the dog they are looking to adopt the best life and happy, loving forever home.

Before Sadie was adopted she was very bonded with Sawyer and they would wrestle and roll, chase and play - dogs jump on each other as a part of playing and wrestling, she is a teenager and so is playing rough is to be expected.

We are looking for a family that is fully committed in giving this amazing girl a wonderful life and not get angry with her when she does things that she has had the opportunity to do and not taught any different. She is a teenager, she needs excercise and mental stimulation, if you are not able to provide this, she is not the dog for you. We are looking for a family who is familiar or has educated themselves on the breed and can show us that they have the understanding and lifestyle that this beautiful girl deserves.

We have failed Sadie, once and someone failed her in Texas where she ended up in a kill shelter, we feel sick to the stomach and do not intend to fail her again.

All dogs use dog doors to go out and do their business or to enjoy the cool, fresh weather in their dog runs or communal areas. We cannot say if a dog is house-trained, however, we expect families to understand that all dogs need a transition period and accidents could happen and training is most definitely needed.

All dogs are fed  Rachael Ray Nutrish PEAK Natural Dry Dog Food, Grain Free Western Grasslands Recipe with Bison.   Rachael Ray Nutrish Peak Dog Food receives the Dog Food Advisor’s second-highest tier rating of 4.5 stars.

SADIE is available for an adoption fee of US $550

This fee is not negotiable and is used to cover the rescue costs of saving all of the dogs we do, the running, upkeep and maintenance of the rescue. Canadian adopters need to know that customs charge 15% taxes when entering into Canada. All that is needed to take dogs into Canada is a copy of the adoption contract (receipt) and current rabies for pups over 3 months of age.  Due to Covid restrictions, it is important Canadain families reach out to the border patrol fo rup to date factual information on re-entering Canada.

If you feel that you have the heart and home to give this precious soul a wonderful life, please go to our website, under the ADOPTION INFO tab, complete, then submit the APPLICATION. Our process takes around 2-4 days, and ensuring your references are aware that we will be calling, could speed up the process. Once you have been approved, we discuss any questions in regards to the dog you are wanting to adopt, then you complete and submit the contract, make payment and then we can work out the pick up / transport arrangements.

Please do NOT submit an application if you are not looking to take home a new best friend within the next few weeks.
