COVID-19 - Animal Welfare is deemed as an essential business and although we are able to conduct some adoptions, we are following the State of Maine Animal Welfare Divisions guidelines. Please email us for more information, if interested in adopting a dog from GaDaH. "giveadogahome-maine@gmail.com"

FRASIER was transferred from a rescue in West Texas to GaDaH. Frazier is neutered, rabies, core vaccines, lepto, heartworm and tick disease tested negative, is on monthly flea/tick/heartworm prevention, microchipped and at the time of transfer in May 2020 weighed around 15 pounds. He has an estimated date of birth of 23 July 2019.

Frasier is currently living in a communal area with other small dogs and puppies and occassionally comes out to be with all the big dogs, which he does enjoy as there is more place to explore and run around. He is a young, active, fiesty, fun loving boy who likes to be where the action is. He is great with all dogs of all ages and sizes.

FRASIER has access to an enlcosed back porch and either goes out to do his business or will use the pee pads that are down. We are not able to say if he is house-trained other than that, so we expect families to be prepared to work on housetraining whilst he transitions to his new home, life and family.

Frazier is only a young adult and so we are looking for an active family that will take him on walks, road trips and adventures so he can enjoy what the world has to offer. As with all new dogs Frazier does need to be trained and it is beneficial for both him and his new family to do basic training at home, so personalities, body language and mannerisms can be learnt from each other, boundaries and rules set for him.  Training classes are encouraged for socialization also. Since being at the rescue Frazier has not been exposed to cats or livestock so we are unable to say how he would be around them.

Frasier does have long hair and so his new family must understand the needs and costs associated with keeping his coat healthy and well maintained. Shaving him down in Summer is not an option as this shows lack of care and understanding to his needs and will expose his skin to the sun and bug bites. Daily brushing is the minimum that he will need. It would be wise to check with local groomers for the cost and recommended schedule for professional groom/maintenance to be sure to factor that into his ongoing costs.

Frasier is available for adoption from Give a Dog a Home, German Shepherd Dog Rescue, located in Sebec, Maine for an adoption fee of $550. Families MUST travel to the rescue in Sebec, Maine for meet and greet at time of adoption

If you feel that you have the heart and home to give this precious soul a wonderful life, please go to our website, under the APPLICATION tab, complete, then submit the APPLICATION. Our process takes around 2-4 days, and ensuring your references are aware that we will be calling, could speed up the process. Once you have been approved, we discuss any questions in regards to the dog you are wanting to adopt, then you complete and submit the contract, make payment and then we can work out the pick up / transport arrangements.

Please do NOT submit an application if you are not looking to take home a new best friend within the next few weeks.

Canadian adopters need to know that customs charge 15% taxes when entering into Canada. This fee is not negotiable and is used to cover the rescue costs of pulling, vetting, health certificate, transport from Texas to Maine, monthly preventatives, supplements, food and anything else that is needed.

ALL Dogs are LOCATED AT THE RESCUE IN SEBEC, MAINE.  We post in various states along the east coast and Canada where we have had lots of successful adoptions to enable more exposure for these beautiful saved souls. Families will need to be prepared to travel to the rescue to meet and take home their new best friend. Sebec is located just outside the towns of Dover-Foxcroft and Milo (approx 8 miles) and approx 45 miles from Bangor. There are also lots of hotels, motels, pet friendly accommodations  and wonderful camp-sites for the more adventurous families and what a great way to get to know your new best friend.
