JASPER-Boy was saved
from a high kill shelter in Texas where dogs have just 3 dogs to be saved and transported to the rescue in Sebec, Maine JASPER-Boy is neutered, core vaccines, rabies, heart-worm & tick disease tested negative, de-wormed, monthly preventatives and micro-chipped. He has an estimated date of birth of 30 October 2018 and at the time of rescue in December 2019 weighed around 80 pounds. We have no way of knowing the exact breed, it is up to individuals to decide what breed they think is most likely.
JASPER-Boy arrived at the rescue on Thursday, 19th December and at first was a little unsure. He was growly with his food, not wanting anyone to take it once it was in his bowl, which is understandable, but something for new families to be cautious of when he is first settling in and getting to know everyone. After a few days he had totally settled and showed his very loving, affectionate side and after a few weeks, he became very playful and always happy to see people.
He does know a few commands and will give you his paw, he is very responsive and a stunning big boy. As you can imagine he has a big bark, but doesn't bark for no reason.
He is a young boy so an active family is critical to providing Jasper with the home he needs. He needs someone who understands the importance of mental stimulation as much as the physical exercise and the family must have the time, commitment and dedication to giving him the life he deserves. I think he would be a great family pet, but as mentioned earlier, caution be taken when he has food or treats, until an understanding is made and both family and Jasper are familiar with each other. Sometimes dogs can be a bit more protective in a rescue environment with their being so many other dogs. He has never shown any sign of aggression and with a transition period, training and guidance I feel he would make an amazing family addition.

JASPER-Boy is available for adoption for an adoption fee of US $550.
This fee is not negotiable and is used to cover the rescue costs of pulling, vetting, health certificate, transport from Texas to Maine, monthly preventatives, supplements, food, general day to day cost of running a brick and mortar rescue and anything else that is needed. Canadian adopters need to know that customs charge 15% taxes when entering into Canada.

ALL Dogs are LOCATED AT THE RESCUE IN SEBEC, MAINE. We post in various states along the east coast and Canada where we have had lots of successful adoptions to enable more exposure for these beautiful saved souls. Families will need to be prepared to travel to the rescue to meet and take home their new best friend. Sebec is located just outside the towns of Dover-Foxcroft and Milo (approx 8 miles) and approx 45 miles from Bangor. There are also lots of hotels, motels, pet friendly accommodations and wonderful camp-sites for the more adventurous families and what a great way to get to know your new best friend.
