NOVA was saved with 31 other dogs from a breeding situation that was not too good. She was pregnant and gave birth on 29th December 2019. She is set to be spayed on 20th February 2020 and has her rabies, core vaccines, heart-worm/tick disease tested negative, de-wormed, monthly preventatives and micro-chipped. She is estimated to be around 2-4 years old.

When we picked Nova up she had been living in a bedroom with many other dogs, none were fixed and were all very smelly, not house-trained and marked all the time, yes even the females. since Nova was pregnant, she and the other pregnant females were kept separate from the other dogs so she could continue her pregnancy and give birth in a quiet, clean environment. Annie gave birth on 29th December and is now ready for her own family to love and care for her.

Nova has been a great mum and shared mum duties with the other 2 mum's who had pups within a week of each other. She is great with other dogs and since her pups have been weened off, she hangs out amongst the other dogs and enjoys going outside to explore and play in the snow.

Nova has had no training at all and so an understanding family is needed to work on not just house training, but leash training and basic obedience, she seems she wants to please so with time and patience it most likely won't be hard. She does use pee-pads and sometimes uses the dog door to go outside, but she isn't going to know to let you know she wants to go out.

Nova does need a proper grooming, she has been given a few baths whilst here at the rescue and did great, but she needs to be cared for properly and regular grooming's be done to be sure her coat stays in good condition and doesn't get matted which can be uncomfortable and painful. Grooming can be expensive, so please be sure this is an expense that you can afford and have time to take her for.

Since Nova has come from an "in-breeding" situation it is vital that his vet knows this and annual check ups, with blood work if advised be done, to rule out, or catch any potential conditions as she gets older.

Nova has been great with all the other dogs and people he has met, She has been great with the cats that she shared a room with when pregnant and was ok with a cat checking out her pups. We have not seen her with livestock so cannot comment on how she will be around them.

Nova is available for adoption for an adoption fee of US $550.

Canadian adopters need to know that customs charge 15% taxes when entering into Canada. This fee is not negotiable and is used to cover the rescue costs of pulling, vetting, health certificate, transport from Texas to Maine, monthly preventatives, supplements, food and anything else that is needed.

If you feel that you have the heart and home to give this precious soul a wonderful life, please go to our website, under the Adoption Info tab, complete, then submit the APPLICATION. Our process takes around 2-4 days, and ensuring your references are aware that we will be calling, could speed up the process. Once you have been approved, we discuss any questions in regards to the dog you are wanting to adopt, then you complete and submit the contract, make payment and then we can work out the pick up / transport arrangements.

Please do NOT submit an application if you are not looking to take home a new best friend within the next few weeks.

ALL Dogs are LOCATED AT THE RESCUE IN SEBEC, MAINE. We post in various states along the east coast and Canada where we have had lots of successful adoptions to enable more exposure for these beautiful saved souls. Families will need to be prepared to travel to the rescue to meet and take home their new best friend. Sebec is located just outside the towns of Dover-Foxcroft and Milo (approx 8 miles) and approx 45 miles from Bangor. There are also lots of hotels, motels, pet friendly accommodations  and wonderful camp-sites for the more adventurous families and what a great way to get to know your new best friend. If there are options to arrange transport, we will work with you to make it happen.
