ADELE was saved from one of the shelters we work with in Texas with her puppy FERGIE. She is spayed, rabies, core vaccines, de-wormed and micro-chipped. She has an estimated date of birth of 28 June 2016. On 24th July at her spay surgery she weighed just over 8.3 pounds. Adele has been listed as a Chihuahua mix. We have no way of knowing the true breed, it is up to you to decide what you think she breed/s is.

Adele although had a puppy is still young and is of the miniature family, she is going most likely fully grown at her current weight. She will need a dedicated family that has the time and patience to work and teach her how she is expected to behave. A family who is familiar with the needs of miniature dogs. Although she is small, she is very confident and doesn't hesitate to play with the bigger puppies and even the big dogs. She can jump up on the sofa and has no trouble getting to where she wants to be.

She LOVES being around other dogs and we are hoping to find a family that would either adopt her and her puppy, or has another dog so she can play and have doggy fun.

Adele is a sweet, affectionate, playful, high energy (for her size) fun loving girl. She is great with other dogs and is always chasing and playing rough with them. She plays great with the other pups that are here. She has learnt to be respectful with the other adult dogs and enjoys their company. She loves to cuddle up close, I always have a laptop on my knee so doesn't get chance to sneak on my knee. At night she will snuggle up as close as she can, as long as she is touching me or one of the other dogs, that is when she is most comfortable. We do not have cats in the rescue so cannot comment on how she would behave around them.

Adele does go and play outside with the other pups and dogs and is very confident and if she is out there she will do her business She uses the dog door to get in and out and does go outside to do her business. She would need to learn to let you know she wants to go outside.

Adele is young and high energy and so a family with an active lifestyle is a must. She would benefit from lots of road trips and adventures, hiking, trips to the lake, the beach and anywhere that she can burn off some of her energy and enjoy the sights, smells and sounds the world has to offer. She might not be able to do a full hike, but she is light enough to be carried and would enjoy the fresh air and being surrounded by nature.

She will need a family that understands the importance of training and we encourage all families to work on basic and advanced training as a family so that boundaries and expectations can be set and both Adele and her humans can learn each others body language and personalities and form a stronger bond and understanding of each other. She has not had a collar or leash on and so leash training will definitely need to be worked upon.

Adele is available for adoption from Give a Dog a Home, German Shepherd Dog Rescue for an adoption fee of $550. This fee is not negotiable and is used to cover the rescue costs of pulling, vetting, health certificate, transport from Texas to Maine, monthly preventatives, supplements, food and anything else that is needed.

If you feel that you have the heart and home to give this precious soul a wonderful life, please go to our website, under the APPLICATION tab, complete, then submit the APPLICATION. Our process takes around 2-4 days, and ensuring your references are aware that we will be calling, could speed up the process. Once you have been approved, we discuss any questions in regards to the dog you are wanting to adopt, then you complete and submit the contract, make payment and then we can work out the pick up / transport arrangements.

Please do NOT submit an application if you are not looking to take home a new best friend within the next few weeks.

Adele is located at the rescue in Sebec, Maine. We post in various states along the east coast and Canada where we have had lots of successful adoptions to enable more exposure for these beautiful saved souls. Families will need to be prepared to travel to the rescue to meet and take home their new best friend. Sebec is located just outside the towns of Dover-Foxcroft and Milo (approx 8 miles) and approx 45 miles from Bangor. There are also lots of hotels, motels, pet friendly accommodations  and wonderful camp-sites for the more adventurous families and what a great way to get to know your new best friend. If there are options to arrange transport, we will work with you to make it happen.
