PLEASE ENSURE YOU READ ALL THE INFORMATION PROVIDED TO LEARN ALL ABOUT LOCATION AND ADOPTION OPTIONS.

ALICE  was saved from Texas where most dogs in the kill shelters have 3 days to be saved before they are killed. SNOW is spayed, rabies, core vaccines, de-wormed, heart-worm and tick disease (SNAP 4DX) tested negative and micro-chipped. She has been estimated date of birth of 8 July 2013 and weighs around 45 pounds.

ALICE  had been adopted out from the shelter with her best friend SNOW (whom we also saved), however, both girls were returned due to the owner not having time for them.  ALICE  and SNOW were kenneled at the shelter together and are best friends here at the rescue, constantly chasing, playing and wrestling with each other.

ALICE  is a happy, go-lucky, loveable girl, she does jump a little when she comes to greet you, but not too much that it can't be managed and with the appropriate training this is can easily be taught it is not accepted behaviour.  ALICE  is very affectionate and loves her belly-rubbed and ear scratched. She has been aged to be around 3.5 years, but does still act a lot younger than that- this could be as she is happy and with her friends, getting plenty of exercise, play time, a good quality food and of course yummy treats.

ALICE is very agile and easily, and often jumps over the stable-door in the house dividing two rooms, she would be a great dog for someone interested in agility or an active sport.

ALICE  is great with all of the dogs here at the rescue ranging from 5 pound to 95 pounds.  We do NOT have cats on the rescue so I am not in a position to comment on how he will be with cats. SNOW does use the dog door and comes and goes as she pleases, she has not had any accidents at the rescue, but I do not know if she would know how to let you know she needs to go out.

ALICE  would suit a relatively active fun family that would take her on adventures and road trips and let her explore the sights, sounds and smells the world has to offer. She would benefit from a family that has the time to work with her on basic and advanced obedience training. By working together both  ALICE  and her humans can learn each others body language and personality, expectations and boundaries can be set and with self-training a stronger bond formed.

It would be great to adopt both ALICE and SNOW out together as they are such good friends and we have had an offer from a volunteer to donate $100 ($50 per dog) towards their adoption if they are adopted together. This is not a deal-breaker though and we would adopt them individually to the right family.

We currently feed SPORTMIX Wholesomes Chicken Meal & Rice Formula, a 4* (a per www.dogfoodadvisor.com) GRAIN FREE food along with pro-bioitics and immune support supplements listed on the available dogs page!

ALICE  is available for adoption through Give a Dog a Home, German Shepherd Dog Rescue for an adoption fee of US $500

This fee is not negotiable and is used to cover the rescue costs of pulling, vetting, health certificate, transport from Texas to Maine, monthly preventatives, supplements, food and anything else that is needed.

If you feel that you have the heart and home to give this precious soul a wonderful life, please go to our website, under the APPLICATION tab, complete, then submit the APPLICATION. Our process takes around 2-4 days, and ensuring your references are aware that we will be calling, could speed up the process. Once you have been approved, we discuss any questions in regards to the dog you are wanting to adopt, then you complete and submit the contract, make payment and then we can work out the pick up / transport arrangements.

Please do NOT submit an application if you are not looking to take home a new best friend within the next few weeks.

ALICE is located at the rescue in Sebec, Maine. We post in various states along the east coast and Canada where we have had lots of successful adoptions to enable more exposure for these beautiful saved souls. Families will need to be prepared to travel to the rescue to meet and take home their new best friend. There is a local hotel in Dover-Foxcroft that is pet-friendly (approx 6 miles) and several in Bangor (approx 45 miles). There are also lots of wonderful camp-sites for the more adventurous families and what a great way to get to know your new best friend. If there are options to arrange transport, we will work with you to make it happen.
