DESMOND was saved from Texas where most shelters have to kill dogs for space after just 3 days. DESMOND is neutered, rabies, core vaccines, de-wormed, and micro-chipped. He has an estimated date of birth of 28 May 2016 and as of December 2016 weighed around 10 pounds.

DESMOND is a fun loving pup, who is loving living with lots of dogs of all ages and sizes to play with. He is not intimidated by any of them and will growl at even the bigger dogs if he feels he needs his own space, or doesnt want them pinching his toy/bone. He loves to cuddle up either next to me on the chair or with any of the other dogs that are comfy to snuggle to.

DESMOND is still a puppy and does want to chew, so puppy-proofing your home is very important.  DESMOND currently lives with all size dogs ranging from 6 pound chi's to 95 pound German Shepherds and gets on great with them all. We do NOT have cats at the rescue so cannot comment on how he would be with them. It would be great if he was adopted by a family that has another dog so he has a friend to play with and also continue to learn from.

We have dog doors in the house and DESMOND uses them to go out and play or to do his business, however, I also have pee-pads inside and I think he uses those also. It would be wise to expect the odd accident until he learns her new routine and to let you know he needs to go outside.

DESMOND would benefit from an active, fun family that has the time to work with him on his obedience and manners, who would take him on adventures and road trips and let him explore the sights, sounds and smells the world has to offer. He would benefit from a family that has the time to work with him on basic and advanced obedience training. By working together both DESMOND and his humans can learn each others body language and personality, expectations and boundaries can be set and with self-training a stronger bond formed.

DESMOND is available for adoption through Give a Dog a Home, German Shepherd Dog Rescue for an adoption fee of $500. This fee is not negotiable and is used to cover the rescue costs of pulling, vetting, health certificate, transport from Texas to Maine, monthly preventatives, supplements, food and anything else that is needed.

DESMOND is located at the rescue in Sebec, Maine. We post in various states along the east coast and Canada where we have had lots of successful adoptions to enable more exposure for these beautiful saved souls. Families will need to be prepared to travel to the rescue to meet and take home their new best friend. Sebec is located inbetween two small towns, Dover-Foxcroft and Milo, both approximately 6 miles away and the closest major city is Bangor (approx 45 miles). Many families travel and make a mini-vacation out of the trip and stay in beautiful Maine for the weekend, however, if this is not possible and there are options to arrange transport, we will work with you to make it happen.
