PLEASE ENSURE YOU READ ALL THE INFORMATION PROVIDED TO LEARN ALL ABOUT RED, HIS LOCATION AND ADOPTION OPTIONS.
RED was saved from Texas where dogs in the kill shelters have 3 days to be saved before they are killed. RED is neutered, rabies, core vaccines, de-wormed, heart-worm and tick disease (SNAP 4DX) tested negative and micro-chipped. He has been estimateddate of birth of 7 October 2011 and at the time of rescue (December 2016) weighed around 27 pounds. RED is blind in his right eye, but this does not cause him any pain, discomfort or issues with his day to day life.
RED is a super-sweet affectionate boy that really does deserve a family of his own and a place to call home. He is extremely affectionate and loving and is a dog that all the other smaller dogs are drawn to and cuddle up with when they are settling down. RED absolutely LOVES to play and he is often outside chasing around with the German Shepherds playing ball or rolling around in the snow. RED has never shown any kind of aggression and is responsive when called. He really is a very sweet boy and one that could bring a lot of love and happiness to any size family.
RED currently lives with all size dogs ranging from 6 pound chi's to 95 pound German Shepherds and gets on great with them all. We do NOT have cats at the rescue so cannot comment on how he would be with them. We have dog doors in the house and RED uses them to go out and play or to do his business, however, It would be wise to expect the odd accident until he learns his new routine and to let you know he needs to go outside.
RED would benefit from an active, fun family that has the time to work with him on his obedience and manners, who would take him on adventures and road trips and let her explore the sights, sounds and smells the world has to offer. He would benefit from a family that has the time to work with him on basic and advanced obedience training. By working together both RED and his humans can learn each others body language and personality, expectations and boundaries can be set and with self-training a stronger bond formed.
We currently feed SPORTMIX Wholesomes Chicken Meal & Rice Formula, a 4* (a per www.dogfoodadvisor.com) GRAIN FREE food along with pro-bioitics and immune support supplements listed on the available dogs page!
RED is available for adoption through Give a Dog a Home, German Shepherd Dog Rescue for an adoption fee of $500. This fee is not negotiable and is used to cover the rescue costs of pulling, vetting, health certificate, transport from Texas to Maine, monthly preventatives, supplements, food and anything else that is needed.
RED is currently on transport up from Texas to Maine and so at this moment we have no more information on her.
If you are interested in adopting RED, please follow the link below to the adoption application and complete then submit. It generally takes 2-3 days to process applications, as long as we are able to speak to your vet and references.

RED is located at the rescue in Sebec, Maine. We post in various states along the east coast and Canada where we have had lots of successful adoptions to enable more exposure for these beautiful saved souls. Families will need to be prepared to travel to the rescue to meet and take home their new best friend. Sebec is located inbetween two small towns, Dover-Foxcroft and Milo, both approximately 6 miles away and the closest major city is Bangor (approx 45 miles). Many families travel and make a mini-vacation out of the trip and stay in beautiful Maine for the weekend, however, if this is not possible and there are options to arrange transport, we will work with you to make it happen.
