JEWELS is spayed, rabies, core vaccines, de-wormed and micro-chipped, she weighs around 25 pounds and has an estimated date of birth of 16 February 2016. JEWELS does have an old injury where her rear leg was broken and self-healed. This has caused her not to be able to bend it, however, if you did not know about this and was just watching her, you would never notice the way she charges around. She clearly has learned to cope with the injury and there is no need for further medical attention.

JEWELS was saved with her sister EMMY and we would love to adopt them together if possible.

JJEWELS when we saved her has skin infections and mange, but with treatment a good diet and supplements it has cleared up wonderfully and she now has a beautiful shiny, healthy coat.

JEWELS is a very playful active puppy and is great around all people and children of all sizes, although as puppies do, she does jump up when excited so this will be something that will need to worked on. She is very loving and affectionate with small children and loves to play games with them. She is great with dogs of all sizes and is happy to play and wrestle with the big size dogs, German Shepherds and puppies her size or smaller. She loves to play with squeaky toys and will chase a tennis ball and play with it with the other pups.

JEWELS eats with the other puppies and has not showed any signs of food aggression or possessiveness. She is very loving and affectionate and will climb up on my lap and settle down for lots of loving.

JEWELS has not had any leash training. She rides well in the car just settling down or looking out of the window.

JEWELS is still young puppy and her ideal family will be active, who are willing and capable of taking her on adventures and road trips so that she can explore all the sights, sounds and smells the world has to offer. She will need at least basic and advanced training, and would make a perfect addition to a family with young children/grandchildren.

We advise families to work on training her as part of the family, this allows JEWELS to learn and understand personalities, boundaries and expectations and the family members to learn her personality, body language and what she responds best to. 

We currently feed a 4* (a per www.dogfoodadvisor.com) GRAIN FREE food and she does well on it.

We do not have cats at the rescue so we are unable to say how she would react around cats.

JEWELS is available for adoption through Give a Dog a Home, German Shepherd Dog Rescue for an adoption fee of $350. This fee is not negotiable and is used to cover the rescue costs of pulling, vetting, health certificate, transport from Texas to Maine, monthly preventatives, supplements, food and anything else that is needed.

Our process takes around 2-4 days, and ensuring your references are aware that we will be calling, could speed up the process. Once you have been approved, we discuss any questions in regards to the dog you are wanting to adopt, then you complete and submit the contract, make payment and then we can work out the pick up / transport arrangements.

JEWELS is located at the rescue in Sebec, Maine. We post in various states along the east coast and Canada where we have had lots of successful adoptions to enable more exposure for these beautiful saved souls. Families will need to be prepared to travel to the rescue to meet and take home their new best friend. There is a local hotel in Dover-Foxcroft that is pet-friendly (approx 6 miles) and several in Bangor (approx 45 miles). There are also lots of wonderful camp-sites for the more adventurous families and what a great way to get to know your new best friend.
