BANJO is neutered, rabies, core vaccines, de-wormed, heartworm & tick-disease tested Negative and micro-chipped, he weighs around 62 pounds and has an estimated date of birth of October 2014.

BANJO is a very gentle, laid back boy who is well mannered and not imposing. When he wants a bit of loving he will come up and just gently rest his head where he can put it - and then give you that loving puppy dog look that you can't resist to give him the love and attention that he craves.

BANJO is getting on great with the other dogs, but he will stand his ground if challenged, which has only happened once with an alpha personality dog. I shouted for them to stop and both of them walked away from each other.

BANJO does LOVE toys, he will play with balls, or the squeaky toys that have no stuffing, running around with it, shaking it and throwing it up in the air. He doesn't like anyone to try and take his toy, or bone from him and will give other dogs a warning growl to leave him alone.

BANJO is in need of basic and advanced training, but he is very responsive and eager to please, I believe he would be easy to train just by praise and affection. He is a gentle boy who would love a family who would take him on road trips to explore the sights, sounds and smells the world has to offer. BANJO I believe would make a great family dog and would have a great time playing and relaxing or doing whatever his family is doing.

We do not have cats in the rescue, however, we do have a rabbit in two XL dog crates tied together - he is not really interested in BUGS, only really when she stamps her feet does it get his attention, and then he just looks over and carries on with what he is doing.

BANJO is available for adoption through Give a Dog a Home, German Shepherd Dog Rescue for an adoption fee of $450. This fee is not negotiable and is used to cover the rescue costs of pulling, vetting, health certificate, transport from Texas to Maine, monthly preventatives, supplements, food and anything else that is needed.

If you feel that you have the heart and home to give this handsome young, energetic boy a wonderful life, please go to our website, under the APPLICATION tab, complete, then submit the APPLICATION. Our process takes around 3-7 days, and ensuring your references are aware that we will be calling, could speed up the process. Once you have been approved, we discuss any questions in regards to the dog you are wanting to adopt, then you complete and submit the contract, make payment and then we can work out the pick up / transport arrangements.

BANJO is located at the rescue in Sebec, Maine. We post in various states along the east coast and Canada where we have had lots of successful adoptions to enable more exposure for these beautiful saved souls. Families will need to be prepared to travel to the rescue to meet and take home their new best friend. There is a local hotel in Dover-Foxcroft that is pet-friendly (approx 6 miles) and several in Bangor (approx 45 miles). There are also lots of wonderful camp-sites for the more adventurous families and what a great way to get to know your new best friend.
