RANGER was saved from Fort Worth Animal Shelter in October 2015.

RANGER is neutered, rabies, core vaccines, lepto vaccine, de-wormed, and micro-chipped. He is on monthly heart-worm prevention and will need to be heart-worm tested when he is 9-12 months old. RANGER has an estimated date of birth of 27 May 2015 and at the time of rescue weighed 35 pounds.

RANGER is typical handsome young German Shepherd Dog who is at the age where he has that goofy floppiness, but is so eager to learn and want to please and be a part of everything that is going on. He is very inquisitive and has his nose in everything and every were he can get it. He does chew, but has not yet chewed on any furniture, but I have a lot of bones and toys and dogs to keep him otherwise occupied.

RANGER is extremely affectionate and loves to climb on my lap and cuddle, if I am on the chair he is at my feet, if I am in the kitchen he is as close as he can get, if I walk to the door, he is on my heel.

RANGER would benefit from a family that is experienced with German Shepherd Dogs, or working breed dogs. A family that understands that although GSD puppies are very cute and learn very quickly, when they hit the 9 month mark, they get a super charged energy boost and their brain like a sponge needs to keep on absorbing information. They get bored very quickly, they need plenty of constructive exercise, being let out in the yard is not enough, and training is absolutely crucial criteria to having a happy, well balanced German Shepherd Dog. Training doesn't have to be serious, it can fun, games, tricks, agility, or any number of fun things that your imagination or clubs and groups have to offer.

RANGER needs a family that has time to train with him in at LEAST basic and advanced obedience. The family needs to train with him as this allows both dog and humans to learn from each other, to learn boundaries, expectations, each others body language and personalities. He would also enjoy a family that takes him on road trips and to as many different places to enjoy the sights, smells and sounds the world has to offer.

RANGER is great with other dogs and is learning lots of good dog lessons from living with the rescue pack. He is affectionate with all humans he has met, adults and children, the only concern with children would be if he jumped up on them, or ran by and knocked them over. Of course all children must understand that dogs are not their toys and they need their own space and be left alone when not in the mood to play or be fussed over.

We do NOT have cats at the rescue so I cannot comment on how he would be around cats, but I do not feel that it would be anything that training, consistency and patience would fix.

RANGER is available for adoption through Give a Dog a Home, German Shepherd Dog Rescue for an adoption fee of $450.

If you feel that you have the heart and home to give this handsome boy who was close to being killed a wonderful life, please go to our website, under the APPLICATION tab, complete, then submit the APPLICATION. Our process takes around 3-7 days, and ensuring your references are aware that we will be calling, could speed up the process. Once you have been approved, we discuss any questions in regards to the dog you are wanting to adopt, then you complete and submit the contract, make payment and then we can work out the pick up / transport arrangements.

RANGER is currently located at the rescue in Sebec, Maine, however, we post in states along the east coast where transport is available.this gives our precious saved souls more exposure and once adopted, we are able to save more dogs from the kill shelters in Texas that get 3 days before they are killed.

We love it when families can take a trip to meet the dogs before taking them home, but understand this is not always possible and so work in arranging transport to or closer to families homes. This can come at an additional cost, generally between $100 - $150 and is paid directly to the transport.
