CLINT (AKA SGT) is having to come back to the rescue to find another home.

CLINT was doing great, but recently he has not been getting along with one of the families other dogs, and both dogs got into a fight. The family having 4 dogs and 2 cats, do not think it is fair for any of them to be in an un-easy atmosphere, so with heavy hearts they are doing the right thing in bringing him back to GaDaH.

CLINT had a very rough start to life, and he is happy keeping himself entertained, he will chase butterflies and run through the grass, as if in his own world. He can be quite aloof, but this is a traditional GSD trait and until they have decided that you are ok, they may keep their distance from you.

CLINT is temporarily staying with the family, until I have space in the rescue and then he will come back until we can find him his forever family. Ideally it would be great to get him a home very soon so as  not to move him from home to home too much.

CLINT is a wonderful dog, he LOVES the water. if you would like more information on CLINT please email - giveadogahome@live.com and we will answer all your questions and arrange a meet and greet.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Update: 17th November 2011

CLINT is doing great, he walks great on a leash, was at an adoption event this past weekend and was no problem at all. He was very calm and loved people and children coming up to give him lots of fuss.

CLINT is a large dog and will require a lot of exercise, he will need some training initially as he has had minimal, he does sit, and will come when he is called (Although does have selective hearing at times). Clint is no bother around the house and happily plays either with the big dogs, or the puppies.

CLINT does not show any alpha tendancies, however, he is in a pack environment with the heirachy already formed with my own dogs, so in a different environment, with not as many dogs, he may be a little different.

------------------------------------------------------------------------

CLINT is a gorgeous, male, large GSD. He estimated to be around 1 1/2 - 2 years old.

He was found by HEARTDOG RANCH (HDR), in a really bad condition, skin and bone. HDR took him in and got him to a decent weight. Give a Dog a Home - San Antonio, took him onboard on 14th October 2011.

Clint has been fixed, he is up to date on his shots and will be microchipped before adoption. He is currently living amongst 8 other large, young GSDs a 6 mth GS pup and a 6 mth Pit/mix and he fits in perfect.

He is very playful and still has the habit of mouthing (which is common for GSDs) however, now he is in a home environment, it is something that we are working on, and I am sure it will not belong until he understands that this playful behaviour is for dogs only.

CLINT is currently (19th October 2011) 72 pounds, and he has some filling out to do, so he is a going to be a lot larger, but such a handsome dog. He will need someone with a strong personality, who has time to play, train and socialize with him throughout his life. As do all GSDs. They are a working dog, and so very intelligent, and they thrive on pleasing, they are also very social dogs, and are extremely good companions.

German Shepherds are also known to be a little "aloof" when first meeting somone, or when someone comes into their territory, or near their pack. This is a natural instinct of the breed and anyone owning a GSD should be familiar with their exceptional traits.

Give a Dog a Home - San Antonio uses CALLAGHAN ROAD ANIMAL HOSPITAL for all animals medical needs.

If you have any questions, or would like to meet CLINT - please email Jenny

giveadogahome@live.com

CLINTs adoption is a minimum donation of $250

The adoption process includes, but is not limited to:

  • A meet and greet at GaDaH.
  • An indepth application
  • A letter of reference from a current or former vet - on their letter headed paper
  • Two references from people who know you/family well
  • A meet and greet on neutral ground with any other dogs
  • A home visit
  • A home visit with CLINT

Potential adopters are encouraged to meet CLINT as often as they like, and no rush decisions made. If after the above, both parties would like to go forward with an adoption, then a TWO-WEEK Temporary foster contract is completed, before any adoption process can be complete. This is to ensure the potential adopters, CLINT, and GaDaH are all happy.
