It is important you research the cat’s lifestyle and needs to make sure that they fit yours – just as you would ensure compatibility with a human, you are committing to share your life for 15+ years. Please take the time to read ALL information provided.
PITA & brother BOSTON were adopted on 5th June, but sadly returned on 9th July as the families senior cat was getting stressed with kittens around and the daughter hadn't bonded with them. They quickly settled in back at the rescue, although they were not given a welcome back greeting by their mother (Persia) or other cats here. However, they are doing their own thing, playing, exploring, knocking everything off everywhere and getting to know the dogs and keeping them in check.
We are looking to keep the kitties together and both PITA & BOSTON are available for adoption for $200 for both kittens. The previous family didn't get round to getting them their rabies vaccine, so they will need to have that.
PITA is here at the rescue with her mum, Persia and 5 siblings. PITA is spayed, core vaccines, de-wormed, monthly preventatives and microchipped. Her date of birth is 15 March 2022. On 20 May she weighted 1.14 pounds. She will need her rabies vaccine when she is old enough.
We cannot say for sure what breed she is, so we expect families to do their own research on her look and size and decide what breed you think she is and if you have the lifestyle suitable for her needs.
Pita is an affectionate kitty, she is litterbox trained and loves to play and chase with her siblings and other young cats here and scratch her claws on the various scratching posts.

We are looking for a family that has time for a kitten / cat and understands that cats can live on average for 13-20 years, however, it is not uncommon for cats to leave over 25 years and so this is a long-term commitment.
Families must be prepared to provide cat trees and stimulation toys for the cat/s to play with and provide a healthy, mentally stimulating and fulfilling life. They must understand the importance of being familiar with common medical concerns such as urinary tract disease. Cats are known to mask illness and disease very well, and they don't often show any symptoms until they are very ill
All cats are fed a variety of wet and dry food, which varies in brands. They have clumping cat litter, but again varying brands and types from the clay to the more environmental friendly ground shells and such.
You MUST understand that cats need time to decompress and adapt to their new environment and home. It is a HUGE transition they make from the shelter, being vetted, on transport for 3 days and arriving in Maine where the temperature and such is very different to what they have only known. In rescue there is what is known as the "3 Point Rule" Days 1-3 your cat is stressed, anxious, confused as to where they are now. Weeks 1-3 your cat is adjusting, settling in, learning things. At the 3-month point, your cat understands they are home, and have built up a trusting relationship where they feel loved and secure.
If you feel that you have the heart and home to give this precious soul a wonderful life, please go to our website, under the ADOPTION INFO tab, complete, then submit the APPLICATION. Our process takes around 1-2 days, and ensuring your references are aware that we will be calling, could speed up the process. Once you have been approved, we discuss any questions in regards to the dog you are wanting to adopt, then we can schedule your appointment to come to the rescue in Sebec, Maine for meet/greet/adopt
Please do NOT submit an application if you are not looking to take home a new best friend within the next few weeks.
