Coconut  was transferred from a rescue in West Texas to GaDaH. Coconut is spayed, rabies, core vaccines, lepto, heartworm and tick disease tested negative, is on monthly flea/tick/heartworm prevention, microchipped and at the time of soay surgery on 4 June weighed 9.20  pounds. She has an estimated date of birth of 12 november 2018 and we believe was used as a breeding dog.  We have no way of knowing the exact breed, it is up to individuals to decide what breed they think is most likely.

Coconut is a sweet girl who is confident living with dogs of all ages and sizes. She is less tolerent with pups and is quick to put them in their place, but only when they are getting irritating to her. She lives in the house with lots of dogs from puppies up to 120 pound German Shepherds and has no problems, living, eating, drinking and socializing with them all.

She is very loving and affectionate and would benefit from a family that will share her love, cuddles and snuggles, but also be relatively active and take her on walks and adventures so she can explore the world and all of its smells, sights and sounds.

We are looking for a family that is familiar with small breed dogs and their potential health issues so that they know what to expect. She is active and so does need to go on walks and runs, just having a back yard to play in is not enough.

Coconut  has access to a large enclosed in area, which is accessed through a dog door, but there are also pee pads down which she will sometimes ues. We are not able to say if she is house-trained other than that, so we expect families to be prepared to work on housetraining whilst he transitions to his new home, life and family.

We have not seen Coconut around cats, livestock or children, so we expect families to take precautions when introducing her to new things. Her personality does not leave any concern as to her not being friendly with children, as long as they give her space, respect her and not treat her like their toy!

All dogs are fed  Rachael Ray Nutrish PEAK Natural Dry Dog Food, Grain Free Western Grasslands Recipe with Bison. Rachael Ray Nutrish Peak Dog Food receives the Dog Food Advisor’s second-highest tier rating of 4.5 stars.

Coconut is available for adoption from Give a Dog a Home, German Shepherd Dog Rescue, located in Sebec, Maine for an adoption fee of $550. Families MUST travel to the rescue in Sebec, Maine for meet and greet at time of adoption

If you feel that you have the heart and home to give this precious soul a wonderful life, please go to our website, under the APPLICATION tab, complete, then submit the APPLICATION. Our process takes around 2-4 days, and ensuring your references are aware that we will be calling, could speed up the process. Once you have been approved, we discuss any questions in regards to the dog you are wanting to adopt, then you complete and submit the contract, make payment and then we can work out the pick up / transport arrangements.

Please do NOT submit an application if you are not looking to take home a new best friend within the next few weeks.

This fee is not negotiable and is used to cover the rescue costs of saving all of the dogs we do, the running, upkeep and maintenance of the rescue.  Canadian adopters need to know that customs charge 15% taxes when entering into Canada. All that is needed to take dogs into Canada is a copy of the adoption contract (receipt) and current rabies for pups over 3 months of age.

ALL Dogs are LOCATED AT THE RESCUE IN SEBEC, MAINE.  We post in various states along the east coast and Canada where we have had lots of successful adoptions to enable more exposure for these beautiful saved souls. Families will need to be prepared to travel to the rescue to meet and take home their new best friend. Sebec is located just outside the towns of Dover-Foxcroft and Milo (approx 8 miles) and approx 45 miles from Bangor. There are also lots of hotels, motels, pet friendly accommodations  and wonderful camp-sites for the more adventurous families and what a great way to get to know your new best friend.
