MAX is a purebred Weimaraner, with AKC paper, although he was never registered. He is neutered, core vaccines, rabies, Lyme vaccine, heart-worm an tick disease tested negative, de-wormed and micro-chipped. He has a date of birth of 4th October 2012 and weighs 85.00 pounds.
MAX does have an old injury to his rear knee on his left leg, which doesn't allow him to do strenuous or excessive exercise, general day to day walks and playing he is fine, but he is not going to be a working or running dog. He also needs a big comfy bed to lie on to ensure their is no discomfort. Joint supplements are also required for the rest of his life.
MAX has had some basic training and knows a selection of commands, and he understand hand signals for the command down and stay. He enjoys playing fetch and tug of war. He is a bundle of energy and the energy needs to be released with caution to his knee as mentioned above.
MAX is great with other dogs and with proper introduction has been good with cats also. He does have prey drive with squirrels and rabbits so ensuring he is good with the family cat is extremely important. MAX is very affectionate and likes to be near his humans, he give kisses and wags his body when he wants to greet people. MAX is good with children, but due to his size and strength it is advisable that he is not left alone playing with small children in case he accidentally knocks them over.
MAX would benefit a family that will advance his training to keep his intelligent brain active. Although an injured knee, he still needs a good level of exercise and his injury doesn't slow him down, it is up to the family to be responsible and learn his tolerance level and not let him over do things. He would love to go on adventures and explore the sights, sounds and smells that the world has to offer.
MAX is available for adoption through Give a Dog a Home, German Shepherd Dog Rescue for an adoption fee of $500.
This fee is not negotiable and is used to cover the rescue costs of pulling, vetting, health certificate, transport from Texas to Maine, monthly preventatives, supplements, food and anything else that is needed.
