Please read all of the bio to ensure you have all information.
MILO is neutered, rabies, core vaccines, de-wormed, heartworm & tick-disease tested Negative and micro-chipped, he weighs around 32 pounds and has an estimated date of birth of February 2015.
MILO is a very happy-go lucky boy who is just bursting with energy, he acts as if he has been locked in a box his entire life and is only now seeing and exploring the sights, smells and sounds the world has to offer. If he can see, hear or smell it, he wants to see what it is. Although bursting with energy and in need of some basic manners as he does jump up a lot, Mini-MILO is extremely affectionate. If he can sneak up on the chair next to me, he will, if not he will lie at my feet waiting for me to move so he can come along and check out what I am up to.
MILO definitely needs basic and advanced training as mentioned he does jump up a lot and also has that typical terrier bounce / spring where if I go into another room through a baby-gate he just bounces up and down until I come back. He is great with other dogs, although at times he can irritate them with his constant wanting to play, jumping up on them and trying to instigate a chase of play, but he is very responsive to a growl or whatever body language they give him to let him know to calm down. He then just moves on to find another dog who wants to play with him.
He loves to run and chase around the garden and he has played with a few toys, but at the moment is just so excited to be free and have all the space to run in and other dogs to play with. I think when with his new family he will settle down somewhat, but will definitely need an active family who can work with his energy level and have the time to spend with him giving him the guidance and training that he needs to be a great family dog.
We do not have cats in the rescue, however, we do have a rabbit in two XL dog crates tied together - he is interested in BUGS, in that when she is running up and down the crates, he follows her, and he is very curious as to what she is, but he has not tried to get into the crate and he is easily distracted to move onto something that involves, running and playing. With proper training and guidance and of course consistency I am confident that most bad habits he has or picks up could be trained out of him.
MILO is available for adoption through Give a Dog a Home, German Shepherd Dog Rescue for an adoption fee of $250. This fee is not negotiable and is used to cover the rescue costs of pulling, vetting, health certificate, transport from Texas to Maine, monthly preventatives, supplements, food and anything else that is needed.
If you feel that you have the heart and home to give this handsome young, energetic boy a wonderful life, please go to our website, under the APPLICATION tab, complete, then submit the APPLICATION. MILO is located at the rescue in Sebec, Maine. We post in various states along the east coast and Canada where we have had lots of successful adoptions to enable more exposure for these beautiful saved souls. Families will need to be prepared to travel to the rescue to meet and take home their new best friend. There is a local hotel in Dover-Foxcroft that is pet-friendly (approx 6 miles) and several in Bangor (approx 45 miles). There are also lots of wonderful camp-sites for the more adventurous families and what a great way to get to know your new best friend.
